Celebrating and connecting with your alumni network: The My Trinity Newsletter

We were delighted to get the opportunity to collaborate with the Trinity School Alumni team in bringing the My Trinity Newsletter Summer 2023 edition to life. We gladly embraced the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with the team, harnessing our knowledge and design skills to create a publication that celebrates the incredible stories and achievements of Trinity School Alumni.

Alumni play a vital role in the life of any independent school, creating a vibrant community that extends far beyond the end of student’s time at the school. Building meaningful engagement with alumni is not only about cherishing memories but also about fostering lasting relationships that benefit both the school and its graduates. A key tool in achieving this is a professionally crafted alumni newsletter, such as the My Trinity Newsletter. This serves as a powerful channel for building engagement, sharing good news stories and connecting further with more alumni.

Engaged alumni are integral to the success of an independent school. Their support, whether through mentoring, donations towards bursaries, or networking opportunities, directly impacts the growth and development of current students. Alumni can share valuable insights and experiences, guiding current students towards their career goals and shaping their future paths. Trinity School for example has Trinity Gives, a fund contributed to by alumni to give bursaries to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to benefit from an outstanding education at. They also have regular visits from alumni so that current students can learn from their knowledge and experience in their specialist field.

Furthermore, an active and engaged alumni community fosters a sense of pride and loyalty towards the school. They become enthusiastic advocates, helping to enhance the schools’ reputation, attract potential students and help with future recruitment.

Creating the My Trinity Newsletter involved creativity and collaboration between us and the Trinity Alumni team. This process involved:

  1. Planning and brainstorming: The process starts with brainstorming sessions where ideas are generated, and we get a picture of what the alumni team want the newsletter to look like. From there we give ideas and options based on their original brief to make the newsletter the best it can be. When a design and layout are agreed upon, we move onto the next stage.

  2. Collecting alumni stories and content for the newsletter: The Alumni team conducted interviews, collected news stories, and wrote articles that show the full scope of their alumni network and spotlight those who have achieved amazing things.

  3. Design and Layout: Once we have all the content from the alumni team, we used our design skills and knowledge to create visually appealing layouts that complement the engaging content provided. The aesthetics are carefully crafted to align with the school's branding and ethos.

  4. Feedback and revisions: The newsletter undergoes various iterations based on feedback from the Alumni team and other stakeholders within the school. This collaborative approach ensures that the final product resonates with both the readers and the school.

Our relationship with the Trinity School Alumni team allowed us to leverage their insights, knowledge, and passion for the community. We listened to their ideas, embraced their suggestions, and worked together to create a newsletter that resonates with Trinity alumni.
